Decorating Easter Eggs with this napkin appliqué technique is fast and easy.

Even kindergarten kids can join in and make little pieces of art. Depending on the napkins you use, you and your children can create the most amazing Easter crafts that will last for years to come.

We use only common and cheap household ingredients and some glue.

What You Need:

  • blown out eggs
  • patterned napkins
  • Mod Podge or Elmer's Glue
  • scissors
  • paint brush
  • toothpicks
  • ribbons
  • optional: feathers, sequins, beads, etc.

What You Do:

What you need for the napkin technique

First make the glue. Use either Mod Podge or Elmer's glue thinned with water.

While the glue settles, start hollowing your eggs. If you need instructions, here are the instructions how to make blown out eggs.

Cut the napkins into little pieces. On the image below we have cut off the red edges and put them aside, because our Easter eggs shall have only the roses pattern.

Paint brush the egg completely with Mod Podge or Elmer's glue. Then put the pieces of napkin one by one onto the eggs. Carefully flatten the napkin pieces against the egg with your paint brush or sponge.

Put the decorated Easter eggs onto a paper plate to let dry.

On the image below you can see, that we decorated the second egg with the red edges of the napkin. Therefore, it has a completely different pattern.

Break toothpick into halves. Knot the ribbon around the toothpick and stick into the egg. Now you can hang it onto a branch.

If you are really creative, you can add feathers, sequins or beads to your liking.
